I’ll Go Along With You

Eamon Friel  Cop. Con.

It was cold a night in spring
Kind of late he heard her voice
At the window calling his name
And speaking soft something of love
He looked out into her eyes
And she asked him would he go
All for love’s sake with her away
Into the night the stars above

But says he you’re asking me
Shouldn’t I be asking you
And her laughter sang these days
It doesn’t matter who asks who
Now girl that’s true
I’ll go along with you

They embraced and hand in hand
Went on up the little road
And the river wandering by
It spoke to them now is your time
And they’re gone into the night
Like the lovers you might find
In a story or some old poem

You learned at school chanted in rhyme
