I Hope You Sing

Eamon Friel Cop. Con.

I am tired walking in the winter rain
Look at January silencing the streets
I’ve been thinking of the future and the past
There is darkness on the wind as day retreats

I hope you sing
All of the songs of spring
And may your laughter be heard
Let your bright laughter ring

Disregard the actors and the parts they play
It’s a comedy called “Never Tell The Truth”
So convincingly they speak their lying lines
And I know because they fooled me in my youth

And it’s only now I know we go too fast
Shouldn’t life be more a saunter than a chase
Take a look around you as you make your way
Let the others try and win the human race

I hope you sing
All of the songs of spring
And may you steer by the stars
Like a bird on the wing
I hope you sing
